Ingredients of Rajma
- Prepare 1 cup of kidney beans (rajma).
- It's 1 of big potato (cut into small pieces).
- You need 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.
- You need 1 tsp of red chilli powder.
- You need 1 of tomato puree.
- It's To taste of salt.
- You need 1 tsp of coriander powder.
- It's 2 of green chillies paste.
- Prepare 1 of big onion (chopped).
- Prepare 2 tsp of oil.
- Prepare 1 tsp of kasturi methi.
- You need 1 tsp of chopped garlic.
- You need 1/2 tsp of ginger paste.
- Prepare Pinch of garam masala.

The Punjabi way of cooking Rajma Masala is to soak it overnight in water, boil it using a pressure cooker and mix bhuna masala made with chopped onions, pureed tomato, ginger, garlic and milieu of fresh spices including cumin, coriander and chilli powder.
Rajma instructions
- Soak rajma overnight and drain water and in pressure cooker let 2 whistles and open after 10 minutes. Add 2 tsp oil to pan. Add chopped onion. Fry till red and adding 1/4 cup of water make paste. Add 2 tbsp oil to pan. Add salt and turmeric to potato pieces and fry well and keep aside..
- Now add garlic. Saute for 10 seconds. Add ginger paste.After 30 seconds add onion paste. After 1 minute add tomato puree, green chillies paste,salt, turmeric powder,red chilli powder, coriander powder. Saute until oil reduce. Add potato and rajma. After 1 minute add 2.5 cups of water. Close with lid and cook in low flame for 10 minutes..
- Add kasuri methi and cook for 2 minutes in high flame. Add garam masala powder and mix well. Ready to serve..
