Here Rajma means kidney beans gravy and Chawal means rice. I am sharing here both the methods of making rajma and chawal (steamed rice) with step by step pics. You can cook Rajma Rice using 20 ingredients and 12 steps. Here is how you cook it.

Ingredients of Rajma Rice

  1. Prepare 1 cup of red kidney beans (Rajma) boiled.
  2. Prepare 1 cup of rice.
  3. It's 2 of large onion.
  4. Prepare 2 of large tomato.
  5. Prepare 1 tbsp of garlic.
  6. It's 1 tsp of ginger.
  7. Prepare 2 of green chili.
  8. You need 1 tbsp of coriender powder.
  9. It's 1 tbsp of cumin seeds.
  10. Prepare 1 tbsp of garam masala.
  11. It's 2 of black cardamoms.
  12. Prepare 1 tsp of black peppercorns.
  13. You need 1 of cinnamon stick.
  14. Prepare 1 of bayleaf.
  15. It's 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder.
  16. You need 1 tsp of Red chilli powder.
  17. It's 4-5 of cloves.
  18. It's to taste of Salt.
  19. It's 2-3 tbsp of mustard oil.
  20. Prepare of Water for Rajma and Rice.

How to Make Rajma Rice Recipe. A combination of perfectly cooked rice with delicious rajma i.e. kidney beans which have been cooked in onion tomato based gravy that is subtly spiced and flavored with ginger and garlic is Rajma Rice. Now add the rajma and one cup of water. You can garnish with coriander leaves.

Rajma Rice instructions

  1. Wash the rajma and soak in water overnight. Wash it again and pressure cook with 2 cups of water salt and turmeric. Once the rajma is soft remove it from heat, keep aside..
  2. Make a paste of tomatoes, ginger, garlic, greenchili keep aside..
  3. Chopped onion and keep aside..
  4. In a deep bottomed pan, heat mustard oil, add black cardamoms, bayleaf, cinnamon, clove, peppercorns, cumin seeds saute for few minutes, add chopped onions and cook till they are golden brown..
  5. Now add Tomato, green chili, garlic,ginger paste stir well cook for 5 minutes..
  6. Add coriender powder, garam masala, red chilli powder, salt to taste, cook till the oil starts leaving the sides of the pan..
  7. Now add boiled Rajma and one cup water mix well, cook covered for 10-12 minutes..
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves. Rajma is ready..
  9. For steamed cook Rice:- Wash rice in a running water, Then add large deep bottomed pan with 4-5 cup water in it. Add little salt mix..
  10. Once the rice is soft and double in size, strain the water..
  11. Allow it to air 2-4 minutes..
  12. Serve hot with prepared Rajma..
